post of the month, time for another letter to Pat Lykos. This is the last month
of her current term as D.A. and I will admit that I’m sorry to see her go. I
think she’s made a real effort to correct the problems that plagued Harris
County but, as ever, change brings new opportunities.

I’m
writing to you today about the case if Carlos Coy, #908426.
In
a statement made by Mayor Annise Parker on the settlement reached in the case
of George Rodriguez was this quote: “We
are well on our way toward a system that is arm's length from the police
officers who make the arrests and from those responsible for prosecuting the
accused.”
Ma’am,
Harris County has made, and continues to make, great strides towards that noble
goal. But it cannot be argued that there haven't been serious problems in the
justice system, a predatory bent that has destroyed many innocent lives.
Looking at this from an untrained outsider’s perspective, I believe that you
have been a large part of the solution over the years; however, I ask that you
not forget those that who have been made to suffer under the old system.
Throughout
your term as D.A., you have consistently shown not only concern for justice in
the present, but in creating avenues for the innocent to redress the injustice
of the past. Please, review the case of Carlos Coy; consider the weak and
ever-changing testimony against him, the lack of not only physical evidence,
but the lack of any apparent effort on the part of HPD to find any such
evidence.
Please,
give us justice.

I read the link and it seems like they're on the right track. I think it would be hard to have a crime lab that wasn't tainted or influenced by politics or corrupt law enforcement. Most of the people that run this country or have authority, can stick their noses into anything. I can think of one place they can stick their noses, a hot pile of shit! They're like the mafia but with less respect. Hopefully it works out though cuz it would save alot of innocent people. FREE SPM!!!
