Keep Carlos Coy in Jail

Look at what I found; it’s an internet petition entitled “Keep Carlos Coy in Prison”. It lists the charges against him, side by side with the accusations that were never proven and the cases that were never followed through. It says “We need to make sure our voices are heard and this criminal remains behind bars…No female child is safe as long as pedophiles like Coy are walking our streets.”

Now, if you’ve read through my Facebook page, y’all know what I think of internet petitions. I think they are bullshit; false flags, flown to promote laziness and complacency. They say ‘all we need is a signature, and you can make a change!’. It’s a lie. Where do they get sent to? Who verifies the signatures? Nowhere, and nobody. They are distractions that serve only to appease the anger and delay the inevitable action that injustice might otherwise inspire.

So why bother talking about it? Because this is the symptom of a larger problem. Take a minute to think about the 50 people that ‘signed’ this petition.

Are they evil? Racists? Haters? I don’t think so. I think they’re scared; scared little rabbits who have been convinced by the government, the press, and our very culture, that their children are at risk. They’re flailing around, striking at anything in front of them, to protect themselves and those they love.

What they don’t realize is that the subjects of their manufactured hatred might very well be victims. They look at their son’s faces and see ‘stranger danger’, not knowing that the real danger lurks in the uniforms of an officer, the robes of a judge, the fresh face of a classmate girlfriend. A few words to the right person and their son can be imprisoned, branded as a sex offender, denied any chance at a normal life.

You can’t reason someone out of a position of fear. All you can do is present them with the truth and hope they eventually figure it out for themselves. So don’t be angry at those who unquestionably accept what they’re told by the government and media. Reach out to them, present them with the truth, and pray that they’ll be able to come to grips with it.
