Yung Fam,
First let me thank everyone who
supported The SON, and also everyone who supported the DOU (Day of Unity.) I’d
like to thank Carlos Martinez for starting the whole thing, and of course my
sister, Sylvia Lynn, for taking it to an unbelievable level. That girl is
amazing. You know, The Son, was the only project ever released, (only SPM
project), that I never got a chance to hear the final version of. The project
is great, the lyrics are dope, but I’m a little concerned about the mix. Man,
all I can do is be honest, you know that about me. And, I think there was a
misunderstanding about the mix, and I’ll probably do something about that in
the future. A remix, or something. Maybe I’ll put the remixed version in the
next project.
Then again, it could just be me. But
I will investigate the mix. I think there may have been a mix up between the
back-up vocals and the main vocals. Maybe I’m wrong about this, but I don’t
know, man. I’ll talk to Jaime “Pain” Ortiz about it in our visit this weekend.
Actually, I’m pretty pissed off about the situation but we’ll see if my anger
has justification.
So, how have you been? I’ve heard
lots of your input, lots of comments, but I don’t have anything in front of me
at the moment. I do remember one person saying something, like, “Please don’t
use Carolyn for the hook of ‘The River’, SPM does the hook so much better.”
Well, you probably know by now that
it was not Carolyn on that new hook, it was Ayana Mack, who is a really good
singer. She sings the hook for “High Everyday” and “All Caught Up”. The
original plan was that I was only going to show how the hook was supposed to be
done. But Pain used my hook, and I was, like, “That was only an example for
someone else.”
So, we went back
to our original plan, and used someone else. I guess my version was better, and
I’ll make sure to use my version when I do a remix.
I want to shout out to my girl
Marisol, who is always asking me to give other people shouts, and never thinks
about herself. She’s always there to support Incandesio with every write up the
spmaftermath founder does, and Mari works very hard for my cause, for my
justice, all from the heart.
Another comment that I just saw on
Incandesio’s most recent letter to me was from an anonymous who was disappointed
with the Houston Chronicle’s article of the Day of Unity march, He said that it
was only seven paragraphs, and it made me look really bad. He used the word “terrible.”
He said the headline was “Rapper, child molester's supporters march in hope to
free him.” lol! That’s hilarious. Whoever read that headline was probably,
like, “What the fuck is wrong with those peopl!”
I’m still over here laughing my ass
off. But people really believe I did this shit, so bless their heart, man. They’re
only trying to make our efforts backfire in our face, but hate only makes us
stronger. That’s what haters can’t see. The stronger the opposition, the
greater the reward. I’m working on a documentary that’s going to blow the world’s
mind, and I’m using the exact words and actions used to get me convicted. That’s
why I call myself a “Visionary” because it’s so clear to me, I understand the
immense value of haters. I want you to see what I see. Yes, it sucks to be in
the middle of this fight, but it’s building us. If I bought you a
ten-million-dollar gym, you’d be thrilled. Haters are that gym. It’s
resistance that builds muscle. It’s resistance that builds greatness. It keeps
us sharp, keeps us focused.
I think it was Incandesio that
commented about Houston Chronicle’s article, saying, “If it reaches one person
who hasn’t thought about the case in years, and inspires them to look into it
more deeply, then it’s a win.”
Before I go, I want to thank
everyone for wishing me a Happy Birthday. I hope you never get tired of hearing
me tell you that I love you and thank God for you, because you’ll hear it a
lot.
Last thing, please let me know what
you think about The SON. If you like everything, let me know. If you had
complaints, let me know. Your comments help me with the direction I’ll take as
we move forward.
Con Amor,
Los

the album was a god sent gift .nothing will ever be at that level i was speechless just so perfect.. . god bless spm. will u release ur book..i think that is the key to ur freedom.expose theese sikk fukks
was the song ANGLES ever fixed ? i couldnt tell the difrence. also on frustration the hook sounds rushed.
I loved the SON my favorite was "Hustla World" it hit me in the heart "I'm pouring whole 40oz cause I come from a dying hood, my hope is to write a book and show em the fight it took, remembe when r I lost those 2 oz trying to cook" god if that isn't my life. Los you are my heart No matter what I will do what I can til' you come home. The SON made me mature about 5 years before you know it I will be acting my age. Lol Mad love for you my boy C.Coy.
I had been waiting for this album for years now. I can really say that it was dope. However, the WDS album was better. It had better beats and the lyrics had a deeper meaning. Why is this? I do not know. I remember Carlos mentioned that when he got to prison he was in this place where there was a lot of gang activity and it was real crazy. I wonder if Carlos wrote the lyrics to the WDS when he was in this place. Songs like In My Hood, Real Gangster, Garza West, The Day of Unity, and Diaries are all songs with deep lyrics. Oh and you forgot to include a shout out! Overall, the album was dope and Carolyn is also dope. She should be in your songs. She is one of the baddest female rappers out there.
My favorite song was deff Frustration, the whole beat is amazing. I do have a question for SPM, tho, If this was SPM's most anticipated album why did it feel so rushed? what was it that you didn't like? what could you've done better? I know you talked about the mix but overall I think it was a great album, not your strongest one but definitively is in my top 3.
P.S. the intro was a little odd, and weak.
Regards,
mcpablo13
Agree with spm , it just sucks he's behind bars , and cannot master the whole album himself , I mean the album its dope but if spm didn't do everything himself it cant be the best, he just does what he can to make it the best ,I'm sure it will be a different album if he was in the studio mixing it himeslef , because not everyone its capable of recognizing dope material like lyrics , beats , vocals etcc, and stay strong and have god by yourside , no one can't fuxk with u if u have him - Ivan
favorite songs are 28 and Hustla World. the songs all had a good message. you did ur thing,no doubt, and ur flow is sick. But my favorite album is Never Change followed by WDS. Never Change is raw! some straight up gangsta shit with some deep lyrics! 2 Q's: Are u ever releasing the song A Beat from Hotan? On youtube they have part of a song of you feat Lil Bing,(it's the one were u sing the cold 40, Norma's Eyes( idk if that's the name, but it's the 40 included on the SON), will that be on the VIsionary album? you're verse is sick! when i heard it i was so impressed. I had listen to it about 20 times. Those are some of your best lines ever, IMO. FREE SPM!!!!!
one more thing SP, thanks for writing these letters, it means a lot.
Dear Los,
The Son Of Norma was beyond what I expected. Clearly when you said it was the best you've written, you weren't lying. About the songs you said you didn't like the hook, I'm not sure wich song is it that you didn't like. Both The River and Frustration sound great. Dope house released both versions of those songs. The first version of The River released (which I'm calling the promo version) had you in the hook. Your voice broke mid hook. Which doesn't sound bad, but I believe it was better delivered by Ayana Mack. Which is the version we got in the album. In Frustration, they have you in the hook in the album and Carolyn in the promo version, which again, both of you sound phenomenal. The whole album is great. There isn't a song I don't like.
One last thing, (sorry Incandecio I know this is long) What ever happened to The Beat From Hotan?
Hope to hear from you, stay safe and God bless.
I'm waking up laying down in my room jammin out to the remix of you know my name , which was a dope as beat with guitar on the back and dope lyrics , I have to be honest I just feel those songs from lyrics, beats vocals, everything , something I don't feel on every song on the new album , maybe because u can't rap about something u not going trough , sucks how greatest mexican rapper we have have to be behind bars , I was wondering if u even found the answer why Mexicans keep filling up the system ? Now we follow a rapper who was sentenced 45 years with no evidence , kinda sucks but what can we do ? Our people take the wrong path just like u once did , how u solve this , from the roots , I was raised in mexico in a dangerous hood and that is something u never forget but I turned all that to be better and now I'm a college student, also what do you think about mexico violence , today they killed 43 college students for no reason and burned all their bodies , and last I was wondering if u ever wanted to maybe turn your case into something positive , I mean u were charged with child abuse , we all know u didn't do it but have u ever thought about maybe starting an association against children's who have been abuse, like provide help for them , like wouldn't that help your case ? Or at least u doing something good for those people that actually got abuse something that didn't happen in your case , - ivan meza from Dallas tx
How about we all give him some feedback, tell him which was our favorite and not so favorite song?
I'll start with "The River" this song just brings me back to late 90's early 2000's, love the beat, the rhyme is dope and no one like Anaya M could've done a better job on the hook.
Now, I don't know why but I feel "The S.O.N." felt a little rushed, I would've dropped the BPM a little lower.
Overall this album was the shit but like he explained this was thhe first album he didn't have any mixed development himself (probably cuz he was put in a different location in the prison after running into some trouble)
It was a dope album but not the best wds had a stronger feel to it. On another note it be koo if you collabed with houston heavyweights besides mexican rappers. Like trae zro slim thug or even these up coming rappers like young dolph
The River sounded like Siri was singing the hook\ The Poor Kids should of been Carolyn singing the hook/ With out the Son i like the original version better To the flame was my favorite song cus Carolyn makes the song more deep and addictin... The rest of the tracks were pure/scama
First of all it was nice to hear a new spm album. Fan since hustle town. Honestly not one of my favorites. Still dope, and your lyrics are still 5 stars but idk just not one of your best in my opinion. The fact that you didn't mix it is evident. Hustlas world , twenty eight, s.o.n, people, frustration, addicted to storms, and angels my favorite. God spoke to me through Angels when y'all released it as a single.
Agreed didn't like intro. Good album and frustration was a nice song. Not better than Reveille park, never change, or WDS.
I liked the album.I do prefer the original versions on those songs where the hooks changed. The cd is amazing. Just like most people commenting on here, I was hoping for the "beat from hotan" and "life" to be released but I remember reading on here that they weren't going to be released. The hooks and beats on those are on point. I hope Carolyn gets featured on more hooks and I hope the next album comes out soon. I don't feel like waiting so many years again lol.
The albumn was okay, it seemed that the production was rushed even though it's been years in the making. Lyrics and delivery were on point, promotion and production were the only con of it. I feel there could of been better beats to go along with certain songs but no matter what it still filled our fix.
OK I was hoping it was gonna be good cause of course like everyone else we been waiting for ever and when we heard songs like frustration , s.o.n , river, you know all the songs you realesed well I was like fuck yea its gonna be dope!! Thaaaan I heard the album and I was in shock of the new hooks it kinda frustrated me! I even thought about importing the album on my computer and replacing the new hooks on the computer with the original ones all of us fans have heard from the songs you released free. But I didn't so I waited and got to thinking it don't suck the new hooks are OK just was so use to hearing the other ones that's all I even sat back and was like " dam los is gonna be upset when he hears this" cause in my opinion I think Carolyn killed it in s.o.n correct me if it wasnt her ha , but on your lyrics you still killed it as always and your lyrics meant a lot and were real BRILLIANT!! Don't think of me as a hater I support your move and I only speak my opinion and there's like one song I skip on your new album and its cheifen its probably cause I don't chief ha ha hard to relate to ha ha but alright there's my opinion on album
1. INTRO - Smooth Intro putting us in the mind frame of where Los is at
2. PEOPLE - Nice verses. Smooth track.
3. HUSTLA WORLD - "Instant Classic" - Thank You for this song.
4. CHEIFIN - Cool Jam. The end cracks me up everytime. The tuda.. the tuda...lol
5. TWENTY EIGHT - I felt this could have been a classic but it is missing something. Did not like the Chorus.
6. THE RIVER - Cool Jam. Bump it all the time.
7. AND THEY SAID - WOW. "Instant Classic" This is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Thank You
8. FRUSTRATION - Sorry Los. Wasn't feeling this one :)
9. TILL THEY COME - Loved the Hook. The verses dragged with the same style throughout.
10. THE S.O.N. - This song was an "Instant Classic" w the original hook. The new hook they changed it to on the album ruined the song. The new hook completely fuc*s up the entire feel of the song. The original song with the original hook was an "Instant Classic". Who's clever idea was that to change it??
11. DON'T GO AWAY - "Instant Classic" Thank You - I Bump this daily... "Thirty G'z that my dog kills Cujo" .... ha ha ha ...
12. THE POOR KIDS - "Instant Classic" - I Love this Song! Ha ha ha....."The dumb bitch ran out my house & almost fell" ha ha ha "She was scared and shivering, I remember it well" Thank You
13. MY HOMEGIRL - Love the beat and the song is catchy. Las perras love it when I bump this one.... ha ha ha..
14. TO THE FLAME - Carolyn goes off! This girl is a perfect match for that SPM gangsta sound. Brings me back to the late 90's! The G Funk!
15. ADDICTED TO STORMS - Nah... :)
16. ANGELS - I like this song. Funky and different. Nice!
SON OF NORMA is DOPE! I feel blessed to have another album from SPM.
Yes the album would have been an "INSANT CLASSIC" had Carlos been out and mastered it himself, but it really doesn't matter.... This album as is is AMAZING! Thank You!
Tommy Blaze
never heard lil keke, trae, zro, ...etc shout out free spm so why the fukk should he collaborate on a song..fukk houston rappers that dont shout out ..to the king of houston.
seems like we all have mixed opinions.This is what I think;
Best Spm album:1. Never Change. I like every single song. I prefer when SPM sings the hooks, but every hook on this album was performed by the right person. Other favorites; Reveille Park, Hillwood, and WDS.
Now on to The SON. Best songs Hustla World, the River and Twenty-eight. In all honesty, from the last 3 album released this is my least favorite. I want to make it clear that i am not hating, I've been a fan for over 10 years. I felt that this album was more about trying to get a positive message across. I applaud you for that, but I'm used to listening to your gangster rap style. Also, your style/delivery was different ( i'll explain). . I want to say that I understand that you're at a different stage in your life, and you might want to rap about other things, but I will always support you no matter what. don't get me wrong, i do enjoy listening to songs with a good message, but i felt that you were more direct with ur approach this time. I wouldn't say that it felt as if u were preaching, but yeah. I like it when songs make us think. For example, Filthy Rich, that song really made me value the smaller things in life. The system just made me think about life in general. Lines like " I hope one day i see ur benz creep, watch for the jealousy that most friends keep." "I used to be be just like you, slanging crack rock on the avenue." "…his life aint worth a fuck, cus in his mind he was caught a thousand times, and is his mind he was shot a thousand times." I can go on, but those lines made think about shit when the song was over. stay on ur grind, great song. Those songs and others had lines that really made you think, but also had lines talking about some g shit. It was a good balance. then you had those songs like bloody war. I know I'm ranting, and ure prob think I'm an idiot, and maybe ure laughing at me because i don't make sense, but it's all love on this side. Free the Mex!
Lil flip has a pic where he with a Mexican guy wearing a shirt that says free spm. And he pointed at it pendejo
Just wanted to change my comment about th3 song chiefin ha ha I actually heard it today well heard it again lol its not even a stoner song ha ha opps lol good lyrics tho actually pretty DaM good lyrics that beat is just different for me , oh yeah this album has alot of meaningful songs and that's bad ass I love the song addicted to storms!!
wow lil flip ..one shout out in 15yrs..probly wants exposure..hes not relllevant anymore..pedejia
Overall it was good. Id give it 4 stars. But def. Not your best work in my opinion. Like alot of ppl I also didnt like the new hooks. The lyrics were good, it just feels it fell a lil short. It also feels like something is missing on this album. I love it and it was good to get an spm fix but it does not top reveille park, or when devils strike.
Well I didn't pay for it...got it for free on the Internet the first day it dropped. ..I was waiting and waiting but never came through. ..they changed the dates so many times I think cuz they knew it wasn't that great....spm hope u get out man soon .....you can do better than this ...com on ur the king of Houston !! Make us believe. .....
i'm not gone sugar coat it i only liked 3 full songs the rest the lyricrs are good the beats and everything else sucked the big one. i can tell carlos didnt get to put his input in all this, but hey fuck it hopefully ur brother and dope house crew get on point next time cuz they really droped the ball with this one. "all that waiting for this" is how i felt. u are still the best dont beat your self over it SPM next one will be on point. no disrepect and if some off yall fans dont like my coment yall now what yall can do. im still one of your biggest fans sorry to be a dick but u asked for feed back vato
FREE SPM!!!!!!!
Lil flip has plenty and I mean plenty of songs where he says free SPM get your sh*t straight and do your research before you say once in 15 years...
Not your best, I heard the album but didn't quite do it for me. Why? I'm not sure something is missing, wds is my favorite album so far
Dope lyrics like always. You can feel real life in the lyrics. Didn't feel some of the beats. Only Spm on the river is amazing. The cut that made the album is not on par. Didnt feel the chopped and screwed version. Something like Watts on WDS would be dope. (Still jam the fuk out of WDS pretty often) considering the circumstances pretty dope album. Glad you're making a remix.
Michael 5000 Watts, Lil Flip, K Rino, Trae, Fat Joe, and most recently DJ Paul of 3-6 Mafia are ones who have shown love since his incarceration. Also whats with the hate S.U.C. South Park and Swisha House ALL sponsored The Day of Unity. So chill with that "fuck h town rappers shit" true Texans supports their own. #FREESPM
As I jam out to the S.O.N ..first thing come to mind is that no rapper in the game right now is making music like this, this is rap music at its best, the story telling is on point, the beats are banging. The hooks are the best in the game once again SPM keeps it gangster From track 1 - 17,.... My opinion is that it should have been remixed by Michael Watts. ..like W.D.S , I have no complaints, about this album, I think the album was released in perfect time , it was not rushed ,the production team did a dam good job and delivered the best SPM album to date
I thought the album was dope and I'm not just saying it cause I'm your biggest fan in Idaho I like to think my favorite was even from prison screwed & chopped I hear that song everyday my chick can confirm that shit. I'll admit the album did sound like it was rushed but I don't care I'm just happy that you still make music. Free Spm
Really wow if u knew what u were talking about u dam sure would not be on here. Wow
