I think it is refering to people who pretend to be someone else then who they really are. For example Rob is rapping here but in reallity, as SPM puts it, is a storage worker. You have a red pen, you see it is red, but it actually writes in blue. It is a blue pen trying to pass as a red pen.

When writing anything in college or school. Usually the instructor would correct the Errors with a red pen. In this situation , Carlos is the instructor and he is giving advise/Correcting Rob D. All the advise spm is giving would be in red ink , because of SPM's advise , Rob D raps would get better with practice and advise .therefor "The red pen that wrote in blue" would be anything that has been mastered with the red pen that would eventually would just be blue.

I think hes saying that theres many people that like to make themselves feel better by the items that are boughten. So that whe. Society sees their appearence, they know that they have done something with their life. But truely deep inside, they are actually struggling with everything and using that small sliver of hope to get through the day. Or he just might be saying that peoe like to feel in power.

SPM murder mic's in the pen he murders digital players. In cold forties he murdered this dude with a pen . "My pen shoots poison from a blow pipe" from the song illegal amigos. So my guess is this , the pen that he used is his weapon to go to war and murder the dude lyrically.
Im assuming that no one has solved the riddle yet. I've read some pretty good answers here and would think one of them is the correct one, but guess not. Thought it was simple!!! Haha. When they reveal the answer I know ill be like, wtf that's it?!
